Tryzub Archery News

Greetings Fellow Archers,

Thank you for a magnificent turnout at last Saturday's archery clinic. We are thoroughly convinced that your interest in this time-honored, noble sport warrants establishing a Tryzub Club team. We are gratified to see that a sense of fellowship and fraternity is already developing amongst us. We encourage you to join and to participate.

We intend to register with the US National Archery Association. We will acquire additional portable and permanent targets and will better define a shooting area, so as to insure that all of us have ready reasonable access to the facilities that we will need to practice and to learn.

We are also building a staff and ask for volunteers to occupy additional organizational positions: trainers and coaches, manager, bookkeeper, etc. Simply email us, if you wish to have deeper involvement with the project.
Our start-up plans are as follows:

- AGE: Based on safety and strength considerations, the minimum age for participation will be age 11, determined as of 31 December 2011

- NEXT PRACTICE AND TRAINING SESSION: this Sunday, October 2, at 2:00 P.M.; we will focus on shooting form and equipment basics; we will also supply several target cubes, so that we all will have a significantly greater opportunity actually to shoot and to apply what we have learned.

- OUTDOOR FALL SEASON PRACTICES (at Ukrainian American Sport Center - Tryzub): Sundays: 2:30 - 3:30 pm: for archers over 15 years of age; 3:30 - 4:30 pm: for archers ages 11 through 15. We will also hold team meetings on practice days. Older archers will meet while the younger archers are practicing, and vice versa. After the October 2 session this Sunday, we will not have another formally scheduled session until Sunday, October 23. This is the result of a tournament at Tryzub on one weekend and unavailability for the instructors on another.

- SESSION DURING THE WEEK before October 23 – If there is significant interest, we can schedule a practice session on work/school evenings to cover the gap time between this Sunday, October 2 and Sunday October 23. We can discuss this option when we meet this Sunday

- WHY SUNDAYS? Many of the youngsters and parents that attended last Saturday’s session have commitments at Saturday Ukrainian school and scouting sessions; therefore, Saturdays are impractical during the school year

- INDOOR WINTER PRACTICES: One evening per week: the location and time will be discussed during the outdoor sessions

- The initial fee will likely be $60 per archer (subject to adjustment based upon the number of participants), which will include portable and permanent target purchases and shooting facilities improvement and maintenance. Since this initial group is absorbing start-up costs, the required $25 Tryzub membership fee will be waived for the first year ***.

Participating families will obtain a membership as part of the said fee. We will look to start collecting this fee beginning with the October 23 session

- basic equipment (bows and arrows) for participation will initially be supplied for free, but participants will eventually need to purchase their own; those with a keen interest are encouraged to purchase equipment at the outset. Email us, if you need guidance on this question

- Shooting at more standard distances will begin as soon as the permanent targets are purchased

We look forward to seeing you soon – this Sunday! Please feel free to offer your comments and to offer your assistance as volunteers by reply email. Ifg you are unable to attend this Sunday, but remain interested, please email us.

Also, feel free to communicate your questions, comments and suggestions. You can do this in either English or Ukrainian.

Sincerely,

Tryzub Archery Club
